School Camps
Educational trips for schools are a valuable way of enhancing classroom-based learning with experiential learning in a natural environment.

Whether you are choosing a subject-based academic tour, a religious retreat or an activity break, True North Camp has everything you need. The venue has been specifically tailored to meet the needs of academic institutions.

Dormitory accommodation is suitable for both pupils and group leaders. Separate sleeping accommodation allows privacy for teachers and leaders while the dormitory ensures that pupils can be monitored while they enjoy the company of their friends and peers. Separate dormitories cater for accommodation for boys and girls.

The range of facilities includes a large open “hall” / recreational area, outdoor “bomb-fire” area and plenty of braai-spots. The sports fields, volley-ball court and obstacle courses are ideal for team building activities or to unwind after a day in the lecture room.
We can easily accommodate in excess of 200 learners in Dorms, Tents & Cottages.

It is very important that the learners get educational information and are challenged with various activities. Each School Camp will be designed according to your preferences and requirements. There is that moment when a young life has that “Aha moment”. Some educational gem that has been deposited into them that you just know their life has been changed. Those are the moments that we get out of bed for each morning. Taking children and teens into the outdoors in an adventurous and fun environment, where we teach them life skills or outdoor education in an exciting and impacting way.

There is something special about taking children out the class room for a short time and in a fun environment equip them with some life skills. Sometimes, hearing the same morals taught in the classroom but taught outdoors in the wilderness by a person who they don’t see every day, helps the children to open up and to be receptive to the message. Many lessons are also taught though experiential learning as well, and by debriefing games and activities one can often see a change as a young life discovers something new about themselves or about life.

Custom Programming
Schools are different. This is a truth that we have come to realise and while there may be a lot of similarities between different schools, we have found that each school is unique and faces different challenges and has individual needs. Because our goal is to be effective, we believe in creating a programe that is tailor made for each school camp. Our expert programme directors (prior to camp) seek to find out the needs of the group and desired outcomes for the camp and then design a programme that best meet these objectives. We have seen great success using this strategy and while some may promote that there is a “one programme fits all” type of programme, we feel different and we believe that the best results lie in treating each client as a unique and special client.
